School Of Wind

Instrumental Arts Director, Wayne Gross (wgross.mm@youngartistsconservatory.org) is responsible for cohesion between the schools for application in multi-discipline orchestrated ensembles including Jazz Orchestras, Rock Symphonies, Rock and Jazz Bands, Concert Bands, etc.  Mr. Gross scores and conducts all conservatory major orchestrated events. 

 

Jack Hanes (JHanes@youngartistsconservatory.org) My name is Jack Hanes. I was born in Dayton, Ohio. I grew up on a small Ohio farm, attended Miami University of Ohio, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. After college, I served three years of active duty in the Army Band at the Presidio of San Francisco. After the army, I attended San Francisco State University to get my California teaching credential. I then went to Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary and received a Masters Degree in Church Music with a concentration in voice.I taught music in Santa Rosa at Rincon Valley Christian School for seven years before teaching in public schools. I am now retired from public school teaching and from the Army National Guard Band. Currently, I work part time in Fairfield teaching band and at the Young Artist’s Conservatory teaching trumpet students and directing the  Women’s Ensemble. I play trumpet in the Solano Winds Community Band, the Valley Brass Quintet, and occasionally with the “Generation Gap” Jazz Band. My wife and I have lived in Vacaville for over 20 years. She is a retired kindergarten teacher. We have two children who are both married. We also have one granddaughter.

Cyndi Chancellor (cchancellor@youngartistsconservatory.org), flute, I am a graduate of the University of the Pacific in Stockton . I graduated in 1987 and earned my credential in 1988.  I taught in Ceres, California for 12 years, and performed with several bands and orchestras throughout Stanislaus and Merced Counties. I moved to Vacaville in 2000, and have been teaching in the Fairfield-Suisun Schools since then. I play in several symphonic configurations, ranging from solo work to full orchestras. I currently perform with the Solano Symphony and the Benicia Festival Orchestra.
