YACM's Harry Stoddard will be playing with his guitar ensemble, The Trio Seven at Solano Community College on Friday, April 17.
The name for this trio comes from their instrumentation. Each play a seven string guitar.
The seven string guitar -- obviously -- adds an extra string to the traditional six-sting guitar. It can be added as a bass string to deepen the tone, or as a treble string. when both the bass and the treble string is added in an ensemble, it significantly increases the range of the insturment.
The Trio Seven was founded by Matthew Grasso. Mr. Grasso has mentored his collegues Matthew Foley and our own Harry Stoddard in the mastery of the instrument.
The group's repertroire includes the works of Debussy, Rachmanioff and others re-envisioned and transposed for theseven-string guitar.
The event promise to introduce a new experience of music for most. It will an inspiration for aspiring guitarists and musicians of every ability!
