YACM ensembles and classes are an integral part of our music program. The ensembles on this page are included in memberships with LITTLE-Arts or CORE-ARTS.
All CORE-Arts and Little Arts students are enrolled in a weekly musicianship class. Musicianship classes incorporate learning in music theory, ear-training, and group ensemble. Seasonal performances opportunities are shown below. Each semester has a performance eligibility deadline 6 weeks prior to the upcoming date of performance. Students who enroll after the performance eligibility deadline will be able to join their ensemble at a later date. Not all ensembles listed below are offered each semester. Please scheck with the office to confirm ensemble availability
SUZUKI STRINGS ENSEMBLE, VIOLIN & CELLO
AGES 6 AND UP
The Suzuki Violin method is an evidence-based approach to learning violin for young beginners. The Suzuki method builds on the natural musicianship of children through the application of the same aural skills that empower speech development. Suzuki students are enrolled in Little Arts or CORE-Arts for private lessons and attend weekly ensemble classes. Performances are seasonal. Enrollment deadlines are required to participate in performances.

Student must have a correctly sized violin or cello. Instruments may be rented at Watermelon Music in Davis, Live Music in Vacaville, or Ifshin Violin in El Cerrito.

ACADEMIC STRINGS ORCHESTRA
AGES 6 AND UP
Academic Strings Orchestra is the next step in musical development for violin, viola, and cello students who can read music and want to develop experiences performing challenging musical literature in a youth orchestra. This orchestra may perform in the following regularly scheduled performances s as well as other community events

FLARE CHILDREN'S CHORUS
AGES 6 - 10
FLARE CHILDREN'S CHORUS, offers an active point of entrance for children to explore music in a fun group setting. Making friends in chorus is easy because everyone is working together.
Student members (ages 6 - 10) of the school of voice and the school of piano are enrolled in Flare Children's Chorus. This class is open to non-members. Performances are seasonal. Enrollment deadlines are required to participate in performances.

JAZZ ARTS ENSEMBLE
LEVEL INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED
Jazz Arts is open to Intermediate and Advanced instrumentalists. Members of this ensemble will rehearse jazz standards and contemporary jazz while learning to improvise, and demonstrate new skills with jazz charts and rhythms.
Student members of the school of piano, winds, percussion are enrolled in the Jazz Arts Ensemble as a part of their membership. This ensemble is open to non-members. Performances are seasonal. Enrollment deadlines are required to participate in performances.

MUSICIANSHIP CLASS FOR LITTLE ARTS
MUSIC WITH LITTLE MOZARTS
Little Arts students ages 4-5 have fun while they learn music with Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear. Class meets once a week for 45 minutes. Participants learn the fundamentals of music concepts such as pitch, rhythm, note and note reading. Sing, dance, and play instruments. Performances planned per semester.

RHYTHM AND ROCK ENSMBLE
LEVELS BEGINNER - EARLY INTERMEDIATE
Rhythm and Rock Ensemble is open to beginning and early intermediate guitar, bass, ukulele, drum and piano (intermediate only) student. CORE-Arts members have this ensemble included in their program fees. Members of this ensemble will rehearse rhythms commonly used in rock, pop, and folk tunes. Students will learn to play in a band setting and perform together at seasonal events. This ensemble is open to non-members who have 1 or more years of prior lessons. Performances are seasonal.

FUSE YOUTH CHORUS
AGES 11 AND UP
Fuse youth chorus will rehearse traditional chorus, theatre scenes and A cappella music. Students will learn to harmonize, blend, and perform as vocal ensemble.
Student members of the school of voice are enrolled in Fuse Youth Chorus as a part of their membership. This ensemble is open to non-members. Performances are seasonal.

PIANO ENSEMBLE
LATE BEGINNERS - INTERMEDIATE
This musicianship class combines music theory, ear-training, and ensemble rehearsals for students from level RCM 1 - RCM 3. Participants will learn to apply concepts from music theory levels 1-3, while developing the skills necessary to rehearse and perform in an ensemble.

CONCERT BAND & SECTIONALS
GRADES 4 AND UP
YACM provides a place for band students to develop their skills. A sectional gives band, orchestra, and guitar students the opportunity practice skills specific to their instrument in a group setting.
Concert Band classes develop skills and prepare students to perform.

Requirments
Students must have their own instrument. Participants are required to bring their music to class.
