Craig Harless is a Vacaville native. He graduated from Sacramento State University with a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Music and holds a master’s degree in music from Grand Canyon University.
Craig’s passion for music began at a young age. He grew up in a family that loved music, and as he likes to share, was raised on The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. He started playing the trumpet at age 10, but then at age 16, he picked up his first guitar – and he hasn’t put it down since. As a self-taught guitarist, Craig has spent more than three decades playing and performing.
While he loves rock and roll, Craig’s taste in music is eclectic. He loves everything from R&B to jazz to Motown to classical. Craig doesn’t take a cookie cutter approach to teaching music. He knows that each student is unique and works with their strengths to maximize their potential as musicians. He encourages his students to be creative and most importantly, have fun.
Craig taught at the Young Artists’ Conservatory of Music from 2014 to 2016 before moving to Washington, D.C. After nearly six years in our nation’s capital teaching music at two private schools in D.C. and Alexandria, VA, Craig and his family returned to Vacaville and to YACM in 2022. He is thrilled to be part of the YACM family again and is excited to impart his passion for music to a new group of students.
